Evidence before itinerary.
We distinguish information that an official authority has published from decisions that depend on the individual pet, the journey or a qualified professional.
Editorial responsibility and current review status
Serhat Kınalı is responsible for editorial decisions, corrections and publication. AI tools assist with organising research and drafting; their output is a lead to check against original sources. The current private preview still awaits final human publication review. A source date does not mean a veterinarian or public authority has reviewed this page.
What the guides and worksheet answer
Our document explainers identify different actors and document events so readers can ask the right organisation a precise question. The printable worksheet records questions discussed and leaves space for paper replies. It does not confirm that all requirements for an individual journey have been met.
1. Start with the competent authority
We use original publications from the departure country, destination jurisdiction and, when relevant, the transit authority. We distinguish the dates a publication supplies from our own recorded research-check date. A commercial article or an AI-generated summary does not establish the law.
2. Keep the systems separate
Departure documents, border entry conditions, the airline or ferry operator, and return rules are different obligations. We do not transfer one country's requirement into another country's journey.
3. Review conditions and dates
Species, trip purpose, ownership, vaccination history, country classification, health documentation and permitted routes may change what is required. Timelines must identify which official event triggers the deadline, such as blood sampling, certificate issuance or border entry.
Where public official sources leave a question unclear, we say what is uncertain, link the different explanations and provide an official contact route when available. We do not choose an unsupported date or present the uncertainty as settled. Readers can ask the responsible authority about their own documents and journey.
4. Distinguish source dates before drawing conclusions
The source-library date records when our research reviewed a URL; it is not the issuing authority's publication date, the legal effective date or proof that a rule still applies. We keep historical or inconsistent versions visible with warnings, deduplicate references to the same official URL, and show where readers can ask the responsible authority about their own trip.
5. Withhold answers when evidence is incomplete
When primary sources conflict, a review is overdue, or an exception is not resolved, we withhold a personalised timeline. Research directions remain labelled under review. We keep the site private until the required editorial, source, accessibility and service checks are complete.
6. Require an independent final check
A PetWaymark page cannot issue permission to enter a country, diagnose an animal, approve documentation or guarantee a carrier will accept a pet. Refer to the appropriate official authority, an authorised veterinarian and the carrier before making arrangements.
Corrections and changing information
When a source changes or an error is established, the affected explanation and its references must be reconsidered. Unresolved disagreement stays visible. The correction channel is currently offline; final publication requires a verified way to receive corrections. We do not promise a response time or imply that submissions are already being received.
